The website is made by Stichting Nederlandse Hersenolympiade and is hosted by Greenhost. With this privacy statement, we would like to inform you about what personal data we collect when you use our website and other services on and how we process this data. Your rights are covered by the applicable laws, mainly the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch Telecommunications Act.

Visitors of the website

The website uses a secure connection and does not place cookies. Visitor data including the IP address of the visitor and the URL of the visited page are registered by Greenhost. This data is used to send the website to visitors, to protect against digital attacks and for evaluations and analytics. We do not share this data with third parties.

Email and contact form

We use the names, email addresses and telephone numbers that we receive via registration forms (teachers / students / participants) for contact about the events and for administration.  The newsletter is sent via Mailchimp, therefore we provide email addresses to Mailchimp. See here how they handle this data. We do not share this data with other third parties.

We use names, email addresses and other personal data that we receive via email to respond to the email. These emails can be forwarded to the personal email addresses of board members, in particular gmail addresses. We do not share this data with other third parties, unless the data has been specifically provided for this or if the sender has given permission in advance.

Photos during events

During events, photos are made with the aim of showing the public and / or sponsors how this competition works. We will explicitly request permission for the use of photos and videos that show visitors to events.

Retention periods

  • The data of participants will be stored for 5 years.
  • The data of persons who are registered for the newsletter will be stored for 1 year after deregistration.
  • Server logs: Data collected in our server logs will be deleted after three calendar months.
  • User analytics: Individual visitor data (including the anonymized IP address) in our analytics tools will be deleted after 90 days.
  • Given the requirements of the tax authorities, we will keep email correspondence for seven years.
