On Saturday, February first, the Nijmegen preliminary round of the second edition of the Dutch Brain Olympiad was played at the Donders Institute of the Radboud University Nijmegen. Twenty-five high school students played the three rounds consisting of multiple choice questions, brain anatomy (provided by Brein in Beeld) and the patient diagnosis. In the end, the seven participants with a score of higher than 50 were allowed to answer live questions from our live panel consisting of prof. Harold Bekkering, prof. Roshan Cools and prof. Judith Homberg. Koen Aarts won this regional preliminary round. Together with Sterre Daas (second prize) and Julia Vermeulen (third prize), he can participate in the national final that will take place in June during the Dutch Neuroscience Meeting in Lunteren.
