Saturday, 25th of January, the first edition of the Amsterdam qualification round of the Dutch Brain Olympiad took place at the University of Amsterdam, location Science Park. Fifteen highschool students participated and had to answer multiple choice questions, questions about brain anatomy and had to give diagnosis about diverse patient cases. Six participants were selected for the final, where they had to answer questions asked live by neuroscientists. Mare Rootmensen won the first price. Together with Meike Schutte (second price) and Hasti Ansari (third price) she will participate in the national final that will be held in June during the Dutch Neuroscience Meeting in Lunteren.
