Do you want to know more about the brain? Are you a high school student interested in neuroscience and would you like to join the Brain Olympiad? Or are you excited to hear more and talk about science? Make sure to pass by the Brain Awareness Week market stand!
On Saturday March 18th, neuroscientists from Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour of the Radboud University are organizing the Brain Market in Nijmegen. This will take place at the intersection of Broerstraat and Ziekerstraat during Nijmegen’s weekly market, from 10 – 15h. The Dutch Brain Olympiad, the BrainHelpDesk, and the Pint of Science teams will have a stand with multiple interactive activities and brain-related materials to share. This event is part of the international Brain Awareness Week.
The brain is a topic that fascinates us all. How is this organ capable of generating complex behaviors and perceptions? From the smell of our favorite food, to the memories of our childhood. From singing a song within your mind, to riding a bike with closed eyes. All those examples involve a complex interaction played by the cells in our brain, like an orchestra playing a symphony. But in the case of the brain, scientists can only hear a small part of the song, played by some of the instruments.- On March 18th, these scientists come to the market to help you discover the secrets of the brain.
Visitors can participate in a quiz, look at brains through a microscope, play brain pong and ask all their burning questions. There will also be information and materials on the upcoming Pint of Science and Dutch Brain Olympiad and how to join them.
Hope to see you there!
Warm regards,
Brain Awareness Week team Nijmegen
